2018 Round Southport Race
Welcome to the 2018 Round Southport Race Information page.

THE BRIDGE IS WORKING AND THE RACE IS ON!!

The Annual 'Round Southport Race is a popular pursuit race that (almost) circumnavigates Southport Island. The original 'Round Southport Race was held from 1968 to 1983 and actually did go all the way around the island including racing through the bridge. Unfortunately this is no longer possible so when the race was revived in 2011 it was decided to alternate directions each year with one end of the course near the North end of the Townsend Gut and the other end near Tumbler Island.

For 2018, the course runs from East to West and Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club will provide RC duties with award of the treasured can after the race at Southport Yacht Club.  SYC currently holds the Trash Can which is awarded to the club with the best combined score of its top three  finishers from each club.

Because this is a pursuit race BHYC requests all entries be made prior to 2000 hours Saturday June 30, 2018.

This 9.55 nautical mile race is great fun and can present some intriguing challenges. We are looking forward to seeing you on the water on July 1st!
