Virtual Skippers Meeting 6/24 @ 7:30 pm
That's right, another notice for another Skippers Meeting. There's a sense we're finally getting closer to racing, I can feel it! Based on the Governor's press conference today, it appears that Phase 2 may be extended until July 6, at which point Phase 3 will begin. It's also a way to get through the 4th of July holiday before relaxing current restrictions. We'll likely have more info by 6/24.
Join is as we figure out what's happening and when. Ring Central link:

Phase 2 Update 6/8/2020
Status update with beginning of Phase 2 is in the pdf on the event info page entitled "Phase 2 Update 6/8/2020". Please read the pdf for details, but it appears that while we probably won't be racing until July 1 at the earliest, at least when we do race we won't be restricted to same household crews, as that requirement has been lifted. Once we get more information/confirmation from the Marblehead Harbormaster, we'll schedule a virtual skippers meeting, most likely either 5/17 or 5/24 at 7:30 pm. Not quite the news we were hoping for, but better than nothing.
Stay safe and go sailing,
Karen and Peter D

5/27 Meeting Summary
As you may know, under the 5/18 guidelines for recreational boating, organized events on or off the water are not allowed. That puts the kibosh on any kind of racing, which the local authorities have classified as falling under the "organized event" definition, at least until the next set of guidelines come out for Phase 2 of MA’s reopening process, or June 8 at the earliest. At this point, we’re not sure that racing will be allowed in Phase 2, but we’re holding out some hope, and will be ready if it is. More likely is that we’ll be able to engage in some kind of “organized event” on the water in Phase 3, when they say youth sports can start being played. The earliest that Phase 3 can happen is June 29. This is all subject to virus stats continuing to decline and barring any flare ups that would set the schedule back. So no racing on June 3, and likely no racing June 10, 17, 24, but if by some miracle we can begin some kind of racing within that time, we will do it, and we’ll issue NORSI changes accordingly. Our best guess, and only a guess, is that in Phase 2, if they allow racing, that it would be restricted to same household crew. In Phase 3, given that they’re allowing youth sports, we might, we said might, be able to expand from the same household per boat to wearing masks and maybe limiting the number of people on the rail to allow for social distancing, been seeing that in articles about racing during COVID.
Another topic that was discussed was rogue racing. Don’t do it. Even a “disorganized” race is still considered an organized event under the guidelines and by local authorities.
For the time being, we’ll have another get-together in 2-3 weeks when we have new guidelines to work with. If people still have trouble connecting, We’ll post a summary afterwards.
Hope that helps. Stay well,
Karen

Hey Sailors! Not only is registration open, here's the link to the RingCentral videoconference set up for 5/27 at 7:30 pm:

Given that under the 5/18 guildelines for recreational boating do not allow organized events on or off the water, there will be no racing on June 3. But don't fret, come to the Skippers Meeting see where we're at in Phase 1 and what's possibly ahead for Phase 2 of picking up where we left off before the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Skippers Meeting Going Virtual, First 2 Races Postponed
The Wednesday Night Series Skippers Meeting cannot take place in person due to Covid-19 Restrictions, so we'll be going online for virtual videoconference format on Wednesday, May 13 at 7:30 pm. Watch for the link on this page or Facebook so you can connect. Agenda will include opportunity for sailors to offer their thoughts on how and if we can eventually race during the constantly shifting public health landscape. Unfortunately, due to Governor Baker's extension of the order including the stay and home advisory and current guidelines on recreational boating, we are also postponing the beginning of the Spring Series by not holding the first two races on May 20 and May 27. We hope we can begin racing on June 3, but that is dependent on where the Commonwealth is with regard to mitigating and containing Covid-19, and what the guidelines for safe activity and gathering is at that time. Thanks to all for your patience and understanding, and look forward to seeing you at least online on May 13. Amendments to the NOR and SI will follow reflecting these changes, as well as others to ensure safe racing, but wanted to advise you all of the schedule changes as soon as we could. Stay safe and be well, Karen Tenenbaum, BYCRC Chair Peter Dragonas, BYC Wednesday Night Line Captain
