The Clemson Chase race is a fun race around Salem Bay. We encourage racers and non-racers to join the fun of this low-stress race. Non-racers without a handicap certificate will be assigned a rating based on your boat-type. There will be an awards party at the Marblehead Yacht Club following the race and all crew are welcome to join the fun. In 2022, the Clemson Chase Race was the best attended race in Marblehead so don't miss out on the fun in 2023!
WARNING! IF FIRST START IS DELAYED, ALL OTHER STARTS WILL BE DELAYED BY THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME.
All racers are invited to the awards party at the Marblehead Yacht Club following the race. Out of town boats can contact the MYC Dockmaster at VHF 71 to request a mooring or to raft with another boat. Please contact John Murray at jmurray97@yahoo.com before the race, to reserve a mooring or rafting space (for the awards party) so we know you are coming and can plan spots.
Marblehead Yacht Club is committed to providing environmental stewardship. The Marblehead Yacht Club will operate the Downeast Challenge as a Clean Regatta, executing to the greatest extent possible all best practices defined by Sailors for the Sea in its Clean Regattas program. All competitors should plan to promote and adopt a 'leave no trace' approach throughout the event, both at sea and ashore. All competitors and support personnel, including vendors, are asked to cooperate by reducing waste, avoiding use of single-use plastics (such as bottled water), and preventing toxins from entering marine habitats.
