Regatta Management Solutions - Race Registration System - Preliminary Results : 2024 Southern Yacht Club Gulfport to Pensacola Race

The 2024 Gulfport-Pensacola Race is scored using the Forecast Along Rhumbline (FAR) system. Using the latest HRRR & GFS forecast data, each boat is virtually sailed along the rhumb line of the race course to yield a predicted elapsed time. This time is then converted to a Time-on-Time (TOT) rating and used for scoring. By using the actual rhumbline of the race course, instead of a standard course option, like Random Leg, the accuracy of the ratings is improved.

This year, the FAR system has been used for the Newport-Ensenada Race, Santa Barbara-Kings Harbor Race, and the Regata al Sol. The very similar Weather Routing Scoring (WRS) system was just used for the venerable Newport-Bermuda Race.
